WRA to host first event of 2020 with jam-packed agenda

The Women’s Recycling Alliance (WRA) was founded by Clearpoint Recycling’s development director Sarah Sanpher-McDowell in 2018, and 2020 is shaping up to be another busy year for the organisation with new members and a range of events.

Set up with the aim of bringing women together from across the waste and recycling industry, the network enables members to develop new skills through a programme of personal and professional development workshops, meet and connect with like-minded women and discuss the challenges and topics in the sector.

On Wednesday 25th March, we’re hosting our next event at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club in Warwickshire between 9am – 3:30pm. And we’re looking forward to catching up with members – new and existing!

As well as networking, an industry discussion and a three-course buffet lunch, Georgina Pullen, senior training consultant at The Springboard Consultancy, will deliver an interactive professional development workshop on ‘Time management skills and maximising your effectiveness’.

The workshop will focus on developing techniques for good time management, enhancing productivity and reducing stress levels. Members will learn how to ‘prioritise and organise’ and use effective planning skills. Georgina will also explore time stealers and the strategies we can adopt to reduce them along with effective techniques to overcome procrastination and how this can all lead to a healthier more balanced life.

The afternoon’s industry session will be hosted by our guest speaker, Jonathon Bell of Fieldfisher. Jonathon will be delivering an informative talk on environmental law – looking at site licences and permits.

His talk will outline the key steps signposting The Environment Agency’s path to prosecution and environmental permit revocation, the impact this will have on the operator – and the industry. He will also explain the appropriate action operators should take at each step, to prevent regulatory intervention from escalating.

Finally, Jonathon will host an ‘ask the expert’ question and answer session to bring the day to a close.

Places for this event are limited, so to avoid disappointment, register via this link.
