Material Background:
The material arrives on-site from Council kerbside collections.
It is first loaded into a hopper that breaks up and separates the material before going onto a conveyor and into a QC cabin, where large items that may damage the plant are removed. OCC is also removed at this point.
Firstly, it enters a glass breaker and then into a trommel where fines including the glass are removed with anything smaller than 50mm dropping into a bunker before it is baled.
From here the material moves onto a Ballistic Separator where 2d and 3d materials are separated. The 2d material which is mainly paper, and film moves up and over the 3d material which is plastics, steel and aluminium drops down onto a separate belt.
The 2d material moves forward where a sensor positively targets all paper, the rest of the material is bunkered and baled as residue.
The 3d material moves on and is first targeted by a magnet to remove steel and then onto the eddy current where aluminium is removed. There is a final QC check on both materials to remove any contaminants before the materials are bunkered and baled.
The remaining 3d material is mainly mixed plastics which is then subject to a final QC check to remove any contaminants before it is bunkered and baled.
All materials are stored inside.
